Rethinking our social ecosystem
The heavy human footprint on the planet, as we all know, is unsustainable. There are many strategies which we can adopt to reduce our demands on the planet. For example, we could replace much of consumerism with more culture since the biggest resource we possess are humans. What changes could we make that would provide a more stimulating and satisfying existence? This presentation proposes some changes.

Peter Stebbing
He graduated as a scientific illustrator in 1971 and worked on many different commissions illustrating biological subjects. In 1978 he began part-time teaching in the UK and has taught at all levels of design education. In 1987 he was appointed a professor at the Hochschule für Gestaltung (HfG) in Schwäbisch Gmünd where he taught representation techniques, drawing, visualising and sustainable design. Since 1990 he was the HfG ERASMUS Coordinator and helped build up the HfG‘s international program. In 2008 he initiated the Cumulus Association‘s Sustainability Working Group promoting the teaching of sustainable design. In 2010 he was elected to the Executive Board of the Cumulus Association which asked him to prepare a textbook on design for sustainability.
